Seismology and Seismic Hazard Evaluation Section

Following are the work areas of this section.
1) To identify earthquake-prone areas from data obtained by operating seismic and accelerometric stations in Nepal.
2) Bringing the branch into 24-hour operation after the earthquake as soon as possible after the earthquake's epicenter, value, etc.
3) Provide Seismic data for safe infrastructure construction work (such as powerhouses, dams, canals, roads, and large structures required for construction work).
4) Regular operation and necessary maintenance of seismic and accelerometric stations established for the study and research of earthquakes in the Nepal Himalayas.
5) To identify, study and map the common geological faults that can produce earthquakes.
6) Seismic site effect studies, Seismic Hazard Mapping, and study of gases that contribute to the emission of earthquakes.
7) Prepare and update Epicenter and Seismic Hazard Map.
