Mineral Exploration Section

Mineral Exploration Section

The Mineral Exploration Section carries out the exploration, development, and promotion of various metallic, non-metallic mineral and natural gas deposits. It conducts mineral exploration activities from the preliminary to the detailed geological exploration stages to establish the economic significance and viability of mineral deposits. Mineral exploration activities include geological mapping, geophysical exploration, geochemical exploration, drilling, various types of sample collection (grab, chip, channel, bulk, and core samples), mineral resource/reserve estimation, environmental studies, and other related activities.

Functions of the Mineral Exploration Section

  • To identify metallic, non-metallic, and natural gas resources through various types of mineral exploration activities.
  • To conduct systematic and phased detailed geological investigations of identified mineral occurrences to determine their quantity and quality.
  • To facilitate the use of modern technologies in mineral exploration and arrange for the preparation and publication of maps, reports, and other technical documents on the status and characteristics of mineral deposits.
  • To formulate periodic plans and programs and review field activities, including editing and finalizing field reports.
  • To prepare annual programs for each fiscal year in coordination with the Planning, Program and Information Section, based on the activities identified under the approved periodic plans.
